Watches and Wonders 2024: ULYSSE NARDIN presents the new FREAK S NOMAD The dial-less, hands-less, crown-less watch returns in titanium

Ulysse Nardin has launched its latest Freak S watch at Watches & Wonders 2024, with improvements that enhance its innovative and unconventional design. Launched in 2001, the original Freak laid the foundation for Ulysse Nardin’s enduring legacy, which continues with the 2022 Freak S.

The new Ulysse Nardin Freak S Nomad watch uses a 45mm titanium case with an anthracite PVD-coated titanium bezel and transparent bottom cover. The carbon fiber side panels highlight the modern aesthetic. The highlight of the watch is its sand-colored guilloché hour dial with a diamond pattern, drawing attention to the Flying Carrousel movement, which features two large tilting oscillators linked by a differential mechanism in silicon balance wheel.

The carousel resembles a spaceship, rotating once every hour and acting as both a minute hand and an hour indicator. Below it, there is a disk indicating the hours, which rotates every twelve hours. This watch is powered by the in-house UN-251 movement, which has a 72-hour power reserve. The synchronous rotation of the barrel and the turntable relies on a silicon escapement to ensure a stable release of energy. Its design uses two inclined balance wheels connected by a differential to improve accuracy by averaging errors.

The watch is available with two strap options, a gray rubber “ballistic” textured strap and a matte gray “skeleton” alligator leather strap with sand calfskin inlay, both made of titanium Fastened with deployant clasp.
