FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets activated running back Khiry Robinson from the active/physically-unable-to-perform list Monday after he sat out the start of training camp while rehabilitating from a broken right leg.Robinson was limited to position drills, but it marked the first time he was on the field participating in any portion of practice since he was signed by the Jets in March as a free agent. He briefly worked in the rehab area after going through running back drills, then watched the rest of practice from the sideline.He was only scheduled to do individuals, coach Todd Bowles said, referring to the trainers plans.Robinson joins a Jets banged-up backfield that includes just three healthy players: Bilal Powell, Romar Morris and Dominique Williams. Both Matt Forte and Bernard Pierce are both dealing with hamstring injuries and are unlikely to play in the preseason opener Thursday against Jacksonville.Bowles said it was too early to rule out Robinson for Thursdays game.Were going to take a look at him tomorrow and see how hes feeling, if he has any after-day soreness and well make a game-time decision.Robinson spent his first three NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He broke his right tibia during a game against the Giants in November and was placed on season-ending injured reserve after needing surgery.Robinson was signed by the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of West Texas A&M in 2013. Hes played in 28 games in three NFL seasons, rushing for 766 yards and eight touchdowns and catching 25 passes for 178 yards. He appeared to be on his way to the best season of his career before the injury, rushing for 180 yards and four TDs while catching a personal-best 17 passes for 115 yards.The move was one of several the Jets announced Monday.
