MIAMI -- When the Miami Marlins went deep into their bench during an eighth-inning rally Thursday, infielder Casey McGehee was told to be on standby as the emergency catcher. LeGarrette Blount Jersey . He made sure the game didnt come to that. McGehee hit a two-out, two-run single to cap a four-run eighth for the Marlins, who flexed their newfound offensive muscle yet again to beat the Colorado Rockies 8-5. The Marlins scored 27 runs while winning three of four games in the season-opening series. It took them 14 games to score 27 runs last year, when they finished last in the majors in runs and batting and lost 100 games. Newcomer McGehee has led the resurgence, batting .462 with eight RBIs after spending last year in Japan. Giancarlo Stanton, who singled home the go-ahead run with two outs in the eighth, is batting .375 with seven RBIs. "Its definitely different than what were used to," Stanton said. "It has been fun. Were having a good time." They looked like the same old Marlins for much of the afternoon by going 1 for 15 with runners in scoring position before Christian Yelich made the score 5-all in the eighth with a two-out RBI bloop single off Matt Belisle (0-1). Yelich stole second -- with the call confirmed by a replay review -- and Jeff Baker walked. Yelich scored easily when Stanton singled after falling behind 0-2, and McGehee followed with a two-run single. "Was it perfect? No," manager Mike Redmond said. "But we got some big hits when we needed them." The Marlins used two pinch hitters in the inning, which left them without a catcher on the bench. Redmond told McGehee to be ready, mindful he has some experience as a catcher, most recently in 2008 in Triple-A. "I actually kind of want to get back there again, but maybe not in a close game," McGehee said. "Maybe when were up 15." While he might have reservations about donning a mask, he has brought a hard-nose attitude to the once-meek Marlins. He broke up a double play to help score a run and came home from second on a two-out grounder that Marcell Ozuna beat out for a hit. "Thats the kind of style were wanting to play -- aggressive, put pressure on them, kind of the old football mentality of play until the whistle," McGehee said. McGehees teammates love it. "For him to do what hes doing, it wreaks havoc with the pitcher," Stanton said. A.J. Ramos (1-0) pitched a perfect eighth. Steve Cishek followed with a scoreless ninth for his 31st consecutive converted save opportunity, and his second this year. Franklin Morales allowed three runs in 5 1-3 innings for Colorado. Miami starter Jacob Turner gave up five runs in six innings. Miami will remain home this week against San Diego, while the Rockies head to Denver for their home opener Friday against Arizona, hoping to reverse their slow start. "Its definitely not how you write it up," Michael Cuddyer said. "Now weve got to look at the Diamondbacks and win that series and get right back where we need to be." Cuddyer homered and drove in three runs. Last years NL batting champion is hitting .412. NOTES: Two calls were upheld after replay reviews that took 2 1/2 minutes and 75 seconds. ... As Valanciunas was whistled for a rare technical toward the end of the third quarter - a result of waving his hand at an official after being called for a foul - Lowry pulled the Raptors sophomore aside, corralling him by his jersey and patting him on the back. Darren Sproles Jersey . Fellow Argentina forward Gonzalo Higuain also had a brace for Napoli. And Samuel Etoo scored for his fourth different team. On a night of standout individual performances Wednesday, Schalke goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand had a game hell want to forget. http://www.theeaglesshoponline.com/Youth-Wendell-Smallwood-Eagles-Jersey/ . But history aside, theyre still happy to participate in the Par 3 contest, traditionally held on the day prior to the first round of the Masters. Its the football equivalent of a hockey team losing its entire blue line. The first six players at one position are injured, and now its a case of next man up. For the Toronto Argonauts, its the receiving corps that has been decimated by injuries. Chad Owens and Andre Durie were one-two in the CFL in receptions last season, Jason Barnes was a favourite target in the red zone, John Chiles was one of the best deep threats in the league and all of them have missed at least the last three games. Add to that, rookie Terrell Sinkfield missed the last game, while last week in Montreal fellow first-year Anthony Coombs was injured, likely for the season. Import Jarred Fayson is also injured. The only good news on the receiving corps is that Sinkfield is expected to play Tuesday night as the Argonauts host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. As for the rest of the injuries, head coach Scott Milanovich gave an update Monday afternoon. On Anthony Coombs shoulder injury being season ending, "I think so" said Milanovich, "The last report I got (Sunday) is it looks like hes going to have surgery, which would put him out for the year." As for when the others would return, "I think Jason Barnes is the closest," continued the coach. "Maybe (the August 23rd game in) Edmonton possibly. I think next week would be a stretch because of the five day week. Pretty much everybody else, Chad and Durie, Im hoping for, thinking Labour Day." Would a Durie, Labour Day return from a broken shoulder surprise the coach? "Im not counting on it yet," said Milanovich. "Chads probably closer than Dre is. A couple of weeks ago Dre said he was feeling great, and then its kind of gone back and forth with him." Chiles hamstring injury has been frustrating for all involved. He made the trip to RRegina two weeks ago, but was scratched just a couple hours before kickoff. Zach Ertz Jersey. He didnt travel to Montreal last week and the coach is somewhat surprised the speedster isnt back in the lineup. "A little bit, yes. He practiced day one this week and then felt like he couldnt go or he was going to run the risk of pulling it." Milanovich then joked "I was never fast enough to worry about having a hamstring injury, so I have a tough time relating to injuries like that." The Argos finally scored two touchdowns in the same game last week in Montreal, something they hadnt done in the previous three. The prevailing school of thought among outsiders is that its just a case of waiting for the injuries to heal and all offensive ills will be cured. Ricky Ray is hoping thats the case. "To a certain extent, yes," said the quarterback. "Were hoping to get these guys back and to be able to have the guys that you rely on out there to play, but were not just saying that and thinking that, were expecting to win. These young guys that are filling in are very talented guys and now that weve been playing together for a few weeks its time for just to get a little more comfortable and be able to execute better and win some football games." Tuesdays game will be a tough one for the offence against a very talented Bombers defence, led by defensive coordinator/mad scientist Gary Etcheverry. One other note about the receiving corps, Trent Guy has been added to the roster. He wont play Tuesday, but may be in the lineup Sunday against British Columbia. Guy was with the Argos a year ago, and the club may be hoping that he will contribute the way Mo Mann has. After not playing for a year and four games, Mann has 11 catches for 137 yards in the two games he has played this season.
