DETROIT -- According to the Detroit Tigers, the decision to deny the Boston Red Soxs request to push back Thursdays 1:10 p.m. start time was not a punitive one.Red Sox general manager Dave Dombrowski, who was dismissed as GM by the Tigers last season, revealed this week that his old club declined to honor the scheduling change, despite a tough travel turnaround for Boston, which played a night game in Baltimore on Wednesday night.That raised some eyebrows among those who wondered whether the decision was made as a slight to the clubs former executive or to gain a competitive advantage over his new team.Tigers manager Brad Ausmus, asked about the situation before Thursdays game, indicated that the scheduling flap is a much more frequent occurrence than people realize.Every team in baseball, at some point ... has some type of schedule issue. They get in late. They have another game. It happens to every team, every year, Ausmus said. Its not ideal. The baseball schedule is hard. If I were the Red Sox, would I not like it?
