for Tuesday Ahkello Witherspoon Jersey , April 23rd, 2019"*Editors Note from Kyle*These are up a little later this morning as I was locked out of my computer last night and couldn’t get to these nuggets. Ikaros was kind enough to do the nuggets for this morning and it’s silly to waste this!John Lynch held a pre-draft press conference where he addressed a wide range of topics from the passing of area scout Reggie Cobb to learning from mistakes like the drafting of Reuben Foster and Joe Williams. One thing that was asked during the press conference is when Robbie Gould is expected to report. In short, John Lynch doesn’t know. He just knows that Gould will be there for the season opener. While the lack of a return date does make one worry, I think you have to consider Gould’s veteran status and the trust that the 49ers have in him to be ready to step in whenever it is that he does show up.https://www.sfchronicle.com/49ers/articl...4.php?psid=rzIp | Eric Branch, San Francisco Chroniclehttps://www.nbcsports.com/bayar...l-return-kicker | Matt Maiocco, NBC SportsAnother topic that was brought up is what went into scouting Nick Bosa, specifically referencing things done on social media. Lynch brushed off the social media stuff and spoke about how well he gets along with teammates. Personally, I doubt that Bosa is racist. I just think he’s young and a little sheltered from the crueler side of life.https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/...-media-activity | Matt Maiocco, NBC SportsWatching the press conference, I really got a feeling that Lynch has Bosa at the top of his draft board, but he was quick to heap praise on Quinnen Williams. It could be smoke to maybe influence the cards to take him so Bosa falls, or he genuinely wants to draft the guy. I don’t know, I just think it seems a little superfluous to even consider drafting him.https://www.sacbee.com/sports/nfl/san-fr...e229553639.html | Chris Biderman, The Sacramento BeeAlong the lines of hyping up prospects, here’s an article about Lynch’s views on Kyler Murray.https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/...-2019-nfl-draft | Jennifer Lee Chan, NBC SportsAnd a couple more articles about topics covered in Lynch’s press conference.https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/04/22/4...covered-monday/ | Cam Inman, The Mercury Newshttps://www.sacbee.com/sports/nfl/sa...e229556914.html | Chris Biderman, The Sacramento BeeJoe Staley had a chance to talk to the media recently. PDTShareTweetShareShareWho was your draft crush the 49ers didn’t take, but turned into a bust? So, the many of you who still have a Facebook account may go through the memories feature. On the surface, it seems like a great way to see posts and photos from years ago, but this is a lie. Instead, what it does is show the progress of your intelligence. Use me as an example: was I smart 10 years ago? No, I wasn’t. Because I had statements like this: You know, some may think nothing much has changed with my intelligence level. As far as the “Clausen” a nine-years younger Pat is referring to, that would be none other than Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen. Clausen went in the second round to the Carolina Panthers and the less said, the better. Clausen’s career was not glorious by any means and he found himself bouncing around the league until 2015 when he finished with the Baltimore Ravens. I was wrong on this. Oh man, was I wrong on this. There are a quite a few picks I’ve wanted that didn’t end well. I’m sure some wanted Ryan Leaf and had the wind knocked out of them when they saw how that career ended. So I was curious: what draft prospect did you really want, but they turned out a bust? One of those, “Man, I’m glad the 49ers didn’t get him.” I know Blaine Gabbert may enter the conversation here (I wanted him in the draft, but was glad for a time Aldon Smith played like he did). Remember, this can’t be a player the 49ers drafted. If they came over in free agency later, that’s ok, but we’re talking draft crushes that you were disappointed they didn’t take to start. People you beat the door down wanting on the team and were furious when the 49ers looked in a different direction and then years later were relieved they didn’t. This is the time we laugh about when we were wrong.
